FAQ CROCODILE® - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I refill any print cartridge, or should it be modified in any way?

CROCODILE® Refill Kits are intended for refilling standard, original Ink Cartridges. Most cartridges can be refilled without special modification; if any modification is required before refilling (refill hole drilling, pulling out or pushing in the refill hole plug etc.), the Refill Kit contains the required accessories (drill tool, ball pusher tool, top popper tool, plug remover tool etc.).

I didn't find my printer in the list. Does this mean that it can't be refilled?

A number of new types of printers are launched on the market practically every month. Some use Ink Cartridges for which we are already producing a Refill Kit; however, the respective printer hasn't been added to the list yet (for operational reasons, updating of the list is always carried out after approximately 3 months). If you can't find your printer on the list, use the Refill Kit Guide, which is updated continuously, and new types of printers are incorporated in it for searching immediately after being launched on the market. You will also learn here what type of Ink Cartridge is used in your printer and whether a Refill Kit is available. Refill Kits for standard types of printers are usually available within 2 months after launching on the market. Unfortunately, the shortening of this period is impossible due to technological reasons and the necessary testing period; if this is not the case, we would risk damage to the printer.

Can I also use ink from the Refill Kit for a different type of printer?

The manufacturers of Inkjet Printers use different types of ink in various Ink Cartridges. A small quantity of the original ink remains in the cartridge before refilling; this ink is mixed with the refill ink and a reaction occurs. Unlike some manufacturers of Refill Kits who use a universal ink for all types of printers, the ink used in our CROCODILE® Refill Kits is of very high quality and is fully mixable with the original ink. When using a Refill Kit for filling a different Ink Cartridge or using universal inks from other manufacturers, color inaccuracies of the outputs (pictures, photographs, etc.), failures in printing or even irreversible clogging of the print cartridge nozzles (in case of ink coagulation) can occur. In particular, in the case of printers where the print cartridge is a part of the printer (CANON, EPSON), the price for repair or exchange of the print cartridge may equal the price of a new printer. Inks in the CROCODILE® Refill Kits are tested for trouble-free operation in the Ink Cartridges; for that reason, always use the Refill Kit for refilling a Ink Cartridge that has been designed for this.

Why are Refill Kits for newer EPSON printers that use Ink Cartridges from the T xxxxx series missing in your line?

We don't produce Refill Kits for these cartridges because the chips on them do not allow them to be refilled without simultaneous chip resetting (this is allowed through a "chip resetter" that would increase the price of the refill kit disproportionately). The printer remembers that the cartridge has been depleted, and refuses to use it even after refilling. For that reason, we offer our customers a compatible cartridge (non-original) at 30%-40% of the price of the original according to the type of the cartridge.

Why are print cartridges HP 45 and HP 15 not filled through the nozzles?

The nozzles have been designed for ink flowing in the opposite direction; there is a risk of damage to the heaters inside the print cartridge. Dirt that has settled on the screens and dried ink from the nozzles penetrate back into the print cartridge. When depleting ink using the adapter, there is a risk of the ink spraying between the rubber part of the adapter and the board with the nozzles, if the nozzles have dried up.

The printer prints after using your RDJ 556 and RDJ 557 refill kits; however, the warning message "Out of ink" hasn't disappeared.

Unfortunately, the printer doesn't recognize that the print cartridge has been refilled and considers it to be empty. This applies in the case of printers in which HP - 27, 28, 45, 58, 78 print cartridges are used.

You can find instructions on how to proceed in the case of ink level indicator resetting here; the procedure differs according to the type of the print cartridge:
For HP 51645A(G), C6615A(D), 51641A, C1823D, C6625A and C6578A(D) cartridges
For HP C6656A, C8727A (black), C 6658A (photo), C6657A, C8728A (color) cartridges

How do I turn on the ink level monitoring again?

This apply to all printers in which it is necessary to deactivate the ink level monitoring in order to allow printing even after use of the refill kit. The procedure for deactivation is described in the instructions for use of the Refill Kit. The ink level cannot be monitored during use of the refilled Ink Cartridge, and another refill is to be made immediately after printing errors start to appear on the printed page. The printer will activate the ink level monitoring again automatically after you insert a new, original printing cartridge in it.
